“I have never felt more confident in myself, more clear on who I am as a woman. But I am constantly thinking about my own health and making sure that I'm eating right and getting exercise and watching the aches and pains. I want to be this really fly 80-90-year old.”

- Michelle Obama

I want to start this off by saying I’m not a medical professional, I’m just a mom trying to learn and do what’s best one day at a time. I’m constantly evolving, growing, and I’m sharing on this platform to see if anything that I’ve learned might help other like minded individuals. Maybe you know something I don’t, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Over the years I’ve started following and listening to several individuals that are highly interested in making sure that what they put in their body or on their body is as clean as can be. There are lots of products out there in the world that seem great, but actually might contain things that are either not great for you, or have things you don’t need going into or on your body.

It’s hard to know what products are deceiving you and which are the best. I follow a couple accounts of people who have really invested their time in testing and researching. I also like to test and learn, but I’m by no means an expert.

What I have learned is that chronic illnesses are not fun, and mental decline is pretty scary, but that there are lots of people in the world that believe we can cure, help manage better, or stave off these illnesses or conditions by what we eat or put on our bodies. I’m interested in that. I’m not going against medicine, or doctors, or making any sort of sweeping statement, but I do believe that we can all work towards paying attention to our own bodies and what is helping or hurting.

There are products that have endocrine disruptors that can affect your hormones, heavy metals that can be toxic and incompatible with your cells/body. Some processed foods have hidden sugars that can increase hunger or desire for more sugar. I’m trying to pay more attention to all of these things so that I can continue to try to be as healthy as possible. I don’t have all the answers, but through following other people, more qualified in different areas, and testing out products, I’ve a nice grouping of products I believe in, that I think are safe for me and my family to come into contact with.

I can review and break down products more specifically in another blog post, but to quickly share some info, here are some accounts of people who I believe are giving great advice and some products that I really enjoy!

Karalynne Call - @just.ingredients - Nutritionist, Mental Health Advocate - if you don’t know where to start, she gives nice swap suggestions for commonly consumed items that might not be great, she also explains why they might not be great, super helpful and informative.

Angi Fletcher - @angigreene - Mom of 3 who keeps it real with depression, divorce, parenting, dealing with loss, etc - she and her husband are in pursuit of biohacking, really appreciate how transparent she is.

Shawna Holman - @alittlelesstoxic - Mom of 2 who is making her home a little less toxic one day, one meal, one product at time and she just wrote a book on the subject (set to release Feb ‘23).

Zach Bush - @zacbushmd - focuses on increasing the diversity of your microbiome, developed the company ION (Intelligence of Nature) which has several game changing products.

Casey Means - @drcaseyskitchen - CEO of Levels - talking about how food affects your health, what foods to eat that can help you with different aspects of your health.

Anthony William - @medicalmedium - on a quest to help people with their chronic illness through foods, juices, and supplementation.

Dr. Leedia - @drleedia - She’s a mom and Holistic Dentist, I don’t love the dentist but I really value the info she provides on oral health and its impact on our overall health.

“It doesn't matter who you are - the season you’re in will shift and you have the choice to adapt and evolve.”

-Angi Fletcher

We try to eat Organic, Non GMO and cook more than we eat out. Here are some products that we use on the regular:

Blueland - Love their tablets for the foaming hand wash (glass bottles are beautiful) and they have a powdered dish soap that I’m liking.

Force of Nature - they make a natural version of bleach that you can make from water.

Organifi - Multivitamin drink powders, get your greens, collagen, turmeric in a tasty drink.

Kion - Coffee and supplements - love how clean the coffee is, tested for molds, pesticides, and mycotoxins. Use code MINDSET at checkout for a discount on your purchase.

ION - Intelligence of Nature - supplements to help support a healthy microbiome.

Hiya - Kids Multivitamins, come with a cool bottle with stickers so they can customize them, it’s reusable and they send refills in a package that can just be poured into the original bottle.

Neurohacker Collective - Qualia Supplements - really interested in brain health and longevity.

I’m going to reiterate that I’m not a doctor and I’m not telling you what you should or shouldn’t be doing, I’m just sharing that I’m paying more attention to what I put in my body and I’m recommending the things I have found useful in my journey to do so. If you have questions or want more information, please let me know!
