Hi, I'm Alisha Glass Childress

I am a mom, a mindset coach, and an Olympian. I am also in pursuit of my best self, realizing that there is always room for growth.

My identity, for the majority of my life, was being a volleyball player. My goal was to be the very best, and I dedicated myself to my craft and to helping cultivate a winning environment on each team I played for. At Penn State, we won three National Championships. In Brazil, Poland, Italy, Turkey and Puerto Rico, I won three championships). I played for USA Volleyball for seven years, winning several international tournaments, including World Championships in 2014, and my tenure with Team USA culminated in winning a Bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. While my journey was filled with lots of highs and lows, I remained steadfast in my pursuits to maximize my potential and lean into my goals.

In 2013 I was introduced to a Sports Performance Psychologist named Dr. Michael Gervais. Mike led me on a journey inward, creating a pathway to learn about myself, my interactions, leadership, and the power of mindset. I knew what it took physically, but formally training my mind and learning how to organize my mental approach to volleyball was a game changer. This work fundamentally changed my life and the best part is that it continues to do so.

Following the Rio Olympics, I decided to pause my volleyball pursuits and in 2017 I became a mother to Maya. Although the majority of my life was defined by my pursuit of excellence in sport, I always felt the pull of motherhood. Maybe it stems from my time working in a day care or the wonderful and loving family I have been blessed with, but I knew I wanted to be a mom. Since Maya was born, I’ve given birth to two more beautiful girls, Mina and Amara. Creating humans is an amazing thing, and I have found that I approach parenting similarly to how I approached volleyball. I want to be the best. Noticing a trend yet? :). While there are no awards for Mom of the Year (Yet), I want to be the best parent I can possibly be for my girls. I want to provide a loving and family oriented environment even better than the one I had and equip them with the tools to succeed at whatever they decide to pursue. Motherhood takes being a learner, finding calm in chaos and being intentional in how you show up for your kids. I’m passionate about mindset work, performance psychology, and motherhood. I value authenticity, determination, curiosity and the ability to adapt and adjust. These things are important on the court and at home.

I know two things to be true: First, that there are no limits to what we can do if we continue to challenge ourselves and are willing to put in the work. Second, is that in the pursuit of greatness, in any aspect of our lives, there will inevitably be challenges, ups and downs, and uncertainty. It’s difficult to live in uncertainty and put yourself in uncomfortable situations, but on the edge of that discomfort is where amazing things happen. That is the space I want to exist in. If this resonates with you, I welcome you on this journey with me. Let’s pursue greatness together and continue doing the work to become our very best.
